Level Valve 41211334 Sv1490 Iveco is used to manage the filling of tanks and containers by means of a mechanical float which operates a small pilot valve to control the main valve. The main valve allows liquid, usually water, to flow down and through the impulse line to the pilot valve at the float. When the tank is full and the float is level, the pilot valve closes, which prevents the main valve from opening. Once the level drops and the pilot valve opens, the main valve also opens and a small amount of liquid is released from the pilot line into the tank to maintain the open position of the main valve until the float is level again and both valves are open. The pilot valve and main valve close.
This is similar in principle to the altitude control valve more commonly used to supply water to high level tanks and reservoirs. With the altitude control valve, a float is not used, but a sensitive diaphragm that responds to pressure changes to determine whether the main valve should open.
Float level control valves are most commonly used for water or diesel tanks, but can also be used for other liquids where material compatibility is not an issue.
