The Basic Principle Of Steering Column Switch
The steering column switch unit operates using a series of levers connected to internal contact points. When the driver moves a lever—say to signal a left turn—the switch closes an electrical circuit that activates the indicator lights. These signals are routed through the vehicle's electronic control modules (ECUs), which interpret and execute the command.

Before you replace the steering column switch, make sure that the earth and cable connections as well as the fuses are in perfect condition and that these are not the real cause of the fault.
Before you start dismantling, check that the battery is disconnected and that the wheels and the steering wheel are in the straight-ahead position. Then remove the airbag unit, the steering wheel and the steering column housing. Reinstall everything in the reverse order of this dismantling sequence.
